about the founder

Krysti Nellermoe

"Two decades designing immersive experiences that help people navigate uncertainty, build capacity, and find agency in unfamiliar terrain."

She co-designs emerging technology solutions with refugee newcomer communities for a global humanitarian aid organization. Her work has been recognized at Games for Change (2023, 2025), SIGGRAPH (2024), and Cornell Tech's XR Accessibility Summit (2025), and she's a recipient of the Anthem Award and XRSI Impact Award. Before humanitarian aid, she spent a decade leading wilderness-based learning programs across four continents. A certified breathwork facilitator with an MA in International Studies, she brings a co-design methodology shaped by challenge, place, and community.

Open Indigo extends this co-design methodology, creating spaces where practitioners, technologists, and community members build more equitable futures together.
